Compare Lawn Irrigation
and Sprinkler Systems
The differences between
DIY Irrigation and the Home Centers are as follows:
1. Design is a key difference.
In our sample home project (shown below),
the Home Center's design has 12 zones compared to 6 zones with the
DIY Irrigation design. Our design is a custom CAD drawing, not an
AutoCAD like the Home Center's. This allows DIY Irrigation, using
the Irrigation Association guidelines, to design an efficient irrigation
system utilizing the flow available or Gallons Per Minute(GPM) while
keeping the velocity of feet per second within limits. This allows
us to use fewer but larger zones. Which means less work for you.
2. Our systems use state of the
art products and technique.
Example: The home center design uses
rigid risers to transition from the PVC Pipe to the sprinklers heads.
These risers break easily if a lawn tractor is driven over the head.
In addition the PVC piping must be installed perfectly during this
type of installation. DIY Irrigation uses swing pipe to transition
from the PVC to the sprinkler head. It's a ½" flexible
hose that is easier to install because you simply swing the pipe to
the area of head placement cut, install the barbed end and head. It
also gives you flexibility when something is driven over the heads.
3. Our products are the best in
the industry.
Example: Most of our sprinkler heads
carry a 5 year product warranty
compared to 1 year or 2 years with the Home Centers products. Our
products are built to last, quality commercial grade products.
These are just a few of the many differences in our system
compared to the Home Centers. But remember, Design, Products and Installation
are the factors that determine whether you will have a Good Sprinkler
System or a Great Sprinkler System. We will take care of the superior
design and products, you will install the system knowing no corners
were cut.

DIY Irrigation Price: $1241.4

In the comparison system, we have estimated that
a contractor using DIY Irrigation’s design and comparable products
would be in the price range of between $3600.00 and $4200.00. You
have just viewed a materials list and pricing of a Home Center, versus
a DIY Irrigation system. Keep in mind, due to the difference in technique
and design, these systems will not have the same products. This is
mainly due to DIY Irrigation’s design using drip line instead
of spray heads in the flower beds.
Neither of the above systems include any Backflow products.
These may be required in your area. Our getting started page will
help you to determine how to find out about your backflow requirements.
Our package will include the Backflow Preventer if requested. Most
systems will also require the rental of a trencher or pipe pulling
machine.
